In Brevard County, you will find the city of Melbourne. It is about 60 miles from Orlando, which is about an hour away. It is the second largest city in the county. For a city with a larger population, it still offers that small-town charm while still offering beautiful home options for residents and gives everyone a variety of things to do.
Melbourne’s population is growing with many employee relocations from companies such as Northrup Grumman. In addition, many northerners are relocating to leave behind the cold, snow, high cost of living and state taxes.
Melbourne offers tropical weather, the Indian River and is close to beaches. These bodies of water allow for fishing, boating, jet-skis, kayaking, paddle boarding or just the opportunity to relax under the sun with a cold drink in your hand.
There is something for everyone here! There is a variety of restaurants to choose from and some offer a beautiful waterfront view, and many offers live music to make your dining experience remarkable. You can enjoy a show at the Maxwell C. Kingcenter or learn more about animals at the Brevard Zoo. If you love golfing, check out Crane Creek Reserve or Mallard’s Landing. If shopping is your pleasure, you can go the Melbourne Square Mall, to Historic Downtown Melbourne to check out unique shops or Rennigers Flea and Farmers Market. Downtown Melbourne also offers a small, but eventful nightlife during the weekends where you can walk from place to place to dance, play pool, and enjoy some drinks.
Melbourne offers many events throughout the year such as the Meg O’ Malley’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Melbourne Art Festival, Downtown Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Brevard Renaissance Fair and India Fest. Many events are kid friendly and costs to participate are fairly reasonable.
