Cocoa Beach is one of Brevard County’s most popular tourist destinations. It is about 45 minutes from Orlando. Orlando residents and tourists flock to Cocoa Beach for its beautiful beaches and the chance to ride the perfect wave. When people think of Cocoa Beach, they think of surfing. Professional surfer Kelly Slater is a Cocoa Beach native and learned to surf here. There are numerous surfing competitions held here and even the city holds a yearly surfing charity event.
There are several key locations in Cocoa Beach. The Cocoa Beach Pier which stretches 800 feet out into the ocean and has a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops. There is fishing equipment for rent and fishing on the pier is available. If fishing is not your thing, beach rentals are available as well. Once the sun sets, the bars and restaurants on the pier provide a small, but fun night life as well. The famous Ron Jon’s Surf Shop is the biggest surf shop and a popular place to visit for shopping needs and photo ops. Lori Wilson Park is a great place to go for a beach day, walk your dog at the dog park or host a party underneath the pavilions where you can use the barbeque grills to cook up delicious food for your guests.
Cocoa Beach is home to many restaurants such as the new, but popular Q’s Crackin' Crab & Seafood Kitchen and the infamous Coconuts on the Beach. You can watch a concert or show at the Surfside Playhouse. If you are interested in learning, the Florida Surf Museum and The Dinosaur Store are some recommended places.
